2006 PVL trainings

Trainings and trials for the 2006 season are scheduled to commence on Tuesday 21st February at the ISP gym. The first 2 or 3 weeks will be "open" trainings so we can gauge the amount of interest this year and confirm the number of teams we will enter in the PVL for 2006. Reserve Grade trainings commence at 6.30pm and A Grade at 8pm. Please check this site again before attending on the 21st in case there are any changes.

2006 Season update

As some of you will be aware the Federal Government passed the Higher Education Support Amendment Bill 2005 in December last year. As a result of this funding for UQSPORT will be greatly reduced in the coming years. Consequently all UQ Clubs who receive financial and inkind support from UQSPORT will be affected. The UQSPORT Board met on 19th January to determine the impact on UQ Clubs and we expect to hear by the end of January what this means for the UQ Volleyball Club. It is likely that we will receive a reduced subsidy to help run the club in 2006, less free of charge access to the training courts (ISP) and less of a subsidy for those who represent UQ at NUG's and AUG's. So in summary the club will continue to operate as usual in 2006 but the costs are unknown at this juncture. We should be able to publish dates and times for training and trials as soon as we hear back from UQSPORT. So check the website weekly for updates and we'll see you on the court in a few weeks. 2005 Awards night and AGM

Congratulations to all those who attended and survived! For those who didn't here is an update on the nights activities. Rich Hanly has been elected as UQVC President for 2006 and will be ably assisted by Ben Nichols (Secretary) and me (Treasurer). T Lo has been re-elected to the position of Social Convenor due to his excellent work with this years event at the Regatta. A number of others have been elected to the Executive Committee - Beno has the details. Well done everyone on a great year and may 2006 bring more of the same.
