Sensei Daniel Wilson

Sensei Wilson began training at UQTKD in 1994. He attained first dan in 2000 and 2nd dan in 2005. Sensei Wilson has also trained in various styles of karate (mostly Kyokoshin) and kung fu. He has participated thrice in the UQ Interclub tournament, with some success (including 1st place in the special techniques section and two 2nd places in open sparring).

Sensei Wilson approaches martial arts as a holistic discipline:

I like to combine thorough and explicit teaching of technique with rigorous drills and fitness work. This sets the foundation of a good martial artist. Over time, focus (qi) develops and supersedes all other considerations. Speed, power, accuracy and timing: all of these come together when years of hard training culminate in the flow of qi. Of course, I say this as an ideal - a mission statement - reaching black belt certainly doesn't signify mastery of the art. It is only the beginning.
