The
University of Queensland Kung Fu Club is a vibrant and
active club which focuses on learning survival
skills through study of the Lei Quan Gong
style of Kung Fu. While students and instructors
take the training process very seriously, a relaxed
camaraderie in the training hall and an active
social calendar provide for a training atmosphere
that is highly motivating.
Lei
Quan Gong is a Survival Art and so practicality
is paramount. As a result, dealing with single
and multiple opponents
is a central issue in Lei Quan Gong and all training within
the style is consistent with a realistic
and tested solution to this
challenging problem.

An
empowering, informative, practical and comprehensive Womens Self-Defence course
is also offered through the Club. Courses are run each semester.
for more details. The Club enjoys significant female
membership, and females have been active in the running of
the Club, both as instructors and as members of the executive.
The
training program is structured in a way that permits anyone
to start at any time. The individualistic,
student-centred style of instruction, with
dedicated beginner instructors, allows new
members from all backgrounds and skill levels to progress
at their own pace.
The
Club caters for both those interested in attaining a satisfactory
standard in a short period of time and students interested
in progressing to higher levels.
The
health benefits of Kung Fu abound, especially at the Club,
where training requires full-body cardiorespiratory and anaerobic
workouts and strength and toning exercises, all within an
holistic framework. Do not be worried about your current level
of fitness as instruction is considerate of the varying backgrounds
of beginners. Regardless of how you are now, you will get
into shape very quickly!!
Diligent
training leads to a vast array of long-term benefits to the
mind, body and spirit.
The
Club is open all year including Uni breaks
and public holidays. Training is held at the UQ Sport
Martial Arts Gymnasium, Building 25 at the St Lucia
Campus of The University of Queensland.
Please
note that you do not need to be a member of UQ Sport,
nor do you need to be a student at the University.
